LIFE IN THE 18TH CENTURY

April 17 (Thursday), 7pm

Dryden Village Hall, 16 South Street

George Cummings will be presenting “Life in the 18th  Century”. George will be performing in period costume, with authentic props from the era, what daily living was like during that time. He is a Binghamton antiques dealer who specializes in the 18th century. Mr. Cummings has a repertoire of 18th century programs that he presents around the area.  For his presentations, Mr. Cummings will dress in 18th century garb relevant to that particular topic, and use antique props, for an accurate depiction of the topic. This should be a very entertaining presentation.

Doors open at 6:30.  Plenty of parking behind the 1st National Bank.  The Village Hall is accessible.

ANNUAL MEETING

“Restoration of the Southworth Barn”

May 15 (Thursday), 7pm

Dryden Village Hall, 16 South Street

John Kiefer will present a fascinating look at the restoration of the historic barn at the Southworth Homestead.  Restoration of the 19th century barn was our final major repair project at the Southworth Homestead.   As with the main house and its east addition, the barn had limited maintenance over the years.  The project took nearly a year to complete and included work on the crumbling stone foundation, rotted and missing structural timbers, and replacement of the siding and roof.  The presentation will include what we know about the history of the barn, some fun mysteries that we encountered, and lots of photos of the work.  We’ll even give a peak at Black Bart’s Hideaway
